OTHER THERAPIES - NUTRITIONAL THERAPY
Nutritional therapy is a natural way to diagnose health and
well-being problems, detect deficiencies or allergies, and correct the causes
and symptoms using natural substances instead of masking them with painkillers
and drugs.
In some cases, complementary therapies need to work hand in hand with conventional
treatments and can do so easily, but in many cases the use of conventional
treatments temporarily masks the symptoms whereas nutritional therapy aims
to ease the symptoms as well as tackling the root cause. Nutritional therapy
enables the body to gain strength and heal itself naturally.
It is not just a tool for treating illness, but also a successful way to manage
a wide range of issues, including weight, stress, anxiety, digestive or bowel
disorders, depression and other mental health imbalances, hormonal problems,
allergies/intolerance testing and treatment, fatigue, skin problems, children’s
health, behaviour and learning (such as obesity, ADHD, autism and fussy eating),
and much more. The discovery of effective natural treatments for debilitating
and distressing age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s,
and dementia, as well as illnesses which respond well to combined nutritional
and psychological treatment such as eating disorders, makes this a very exciting
time to be benefitting from and practising nutritional medicine.
Consultations involve an initial meeting lasting around an
hour and a half, where I will talk to you about your symptoms, look at the
food and symptom diary I will have asked you to keep for a few days before
the consultation, and get an idea of your medical history. The diary has to
be honest, but don’t worry, I’m not here to judge, just to help!
After that meeting, I will draw up a diagnostic plan, including recommended/foods
to eat or avoid, suggested supplements, and recipes if appropriate. I will
meet with you again to go through this plan with you in detail to ensure you
are happy with my recommendations.
I usually suggest a review after about 6 weeks in case there is some fine-tuning
of the plan to do, and then reviews at various intervals depending on the
issue in question.
Should there be any questions in between times I can generally answer these
on the phone or by e-mail.
So many people endure so many health problems because they
think putting up with compromised health and vitality is the way it is. It
isn’t! I look forward to meeting you.
