Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a gentle but powerful psychotherapeutic tool for breaking the negative trance states of depression and anxiety. It can help with stress, smoking, weight management, fears and phobias, confidence, pain control, childbirth, IBS, skin conditions, fertility, sports performance, OCD, and much more.

Hypnosis is a natural method of altering someone’s state of consciousness. It is very pleasant and relaxing but at one with deep concentration. We will not lose awareness or control, in fact, our awareness is heightened.

The use of a relaxation/sleep track is an integral part of the therapy. This continues to focus the mind and provides relaxation and focus between sessions.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. Psychotherapy in itself is extremely beneficial and its effects are enhanced by the application of Hypnosis, which enables the subconscious mind to make beneficial changes.

What to Expect

Many people believe that Hypnotherapy is something that is “done” to them, that they explain their issue to the therapist who then simply hypnotise their problem away, as if by magic.

Clinical Hypnotherapy is a much more collaborative process and it is important to understand that change happens because you want it to and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.

The Initial Consultation is free of charge and is designed to assess what you want to achieve, how hypnotherapy can help you and how many sessions you are likely to need.

Subsequent Hypnotherapy sessions involve much more than just hypnosis.  During the first part of each session we will talk about the progress you have made and we will encourage you to express yourself positively, focusing on solutions rather than dwelling on problems.

We will help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life.  We then use relaxation techniques to guide you into a calm and comfortable state of hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.

What is Hypnosis Like?

Actually, we all experience the Hypnotic state in our everyday lives. Have you ever driven home and not remembered anything about the journey, or been engrossed in a book and not been conscious of time passing? If so, you’ve been in a state of focused attention, or trance, not unlike the feeling of being Hypnotised.

During Hypnosis you will be guided into a similar state so that beneficial suggestion can be directed towards your subconscious mind.

What Hypnosis Is

Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion.  In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are designed to be beneficial to help you change unhelpful thought patterns.

Clients often comment about how “ordinary” Hypnosis feels – it’s not unlike daydreaming – you can often hear everything that is being said whilst in a deeply relaxed state.  In fact, you could think of it as guided daydreaming.

What Hypnosis Isn't

Contrary to the image portrayed in films, books and the media, Hypnosis does not involve the therapist taking control of your mind – no one can Hypnotise you against your will. Nobody can make you do anything you do not want to – your subconscious mind will simply reject any suggestion that is inappropriate for you. Rather, we use this heightened state of concentration to guide your mind to find solutions and more helpful ways of thinking. We can help you break down old patterns of thought and behaviour and replace them with more suitable and useful ones.

After your Hypnotherapy sessions, you will feel refreshed and relaxed, positive and motivated. We will encourage you to keep the good work going between sessions by listening to the relaxation track we will give you, and by carrying out positive actions or activities of your choice

'I found Jasmine easy to relate to and a careful listener to the issues that were a problem to me, such as disturbed sleep, depression and procrastination. I became aware of the reasons for my difficulties, which have been solved during the course of sessions, and how to rationalise them. I found the experience positive and enjoyable and I am left with an improved state of mind and the means to continue helping myself going forward.'

— Pete, Plymouth

'I tried hypnotherapy for my lack of confidence and realised it was because I was in trauma from a recent event. Talking it through and understanding what was happening to me helped me gain my confidence back within a short time of seeing Jasmine. I love the way the hypnosis part was tailored to my needs and I always felt optimistic and lifted after a session. I now have a fabulous new job and the future has opened up for me!'

– Nikki, Yealmpton
